WHAT IT IS
ByteDance was founded in 2012 and owns content products such as Douyin and TikTok. Its Seed team handles foundation-model research and produced the Doubao chat model along with the Seedance and Seedream video and image generators. The models mainly serve its own products while also being exposed through APIs.

It embedded models directly into short-video and content products with huge audiences, putting generative video and image capability to work at real distribution scale.
